Langdales and the Lake District

Welcome to the greatest place on earth. The Langdales, comprising the settlements of Great Langdale and Little Langdale, the Langdale Fells and Pikes, in the heart of the Lake District and some of the best hill walking and mountaineering in England. Scafell Pike, Stickle, Tarn, Great Gable, Harrison Sickle, to name but a few of the famous peaks easily accessible from the Langdale valley. Some of the best walking, real ales, local food; simply a breath taking place. Once you visit for the first time, it will forever hold a special place in your heart.

The Lake District is England’s Largest National Park and is now a World Heritage site, drawing visitors from around the world.; from the shoreline to England’s highest mountain, spectacular views, local cuisine and a host of other attractions make this the perfect destination for your next holiday or staycation.

The National Trust (NT) owns about 25% of the land here and provides a vital role in the sustainable use and enjoyment of this precious outdoor space. They have a fantastic camp site in Great Langdale and a pub restaurant (The Stickle Barn) along with several car parks (Free for NT members). The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) is the representative body that exists to protect the freedoms and promote the interests of climbers, hill walkers and mountaineers.
